A South Padre Thanksgiving

A South Padre Thanksgiving from Andrew Buckley on Vimeo.

Shot using my Canon 7D over Thanksgiving break on South Padre Island, Texas. After being stuck in North Texas for way too long, it was a welcome change of scenery if only for a few days. Relaxing and refreshing, the slow pace of the island definitely sunk in.

This market gives Arlington residents the oportunity to buy fresh, locally grown produce from friendly farmers that welcome healthy conversation. Remembering September 11th

Now that I am the Photo Editor at The Shorthorn, I don't get much time to shoot but when I do I try to make it as meaningful as I possibly can. In this photo illustration, I wanted to portray a rememberance of the eight years it has been since the towers fell and a hole was torn in the American landscape. Illustrations like this really let me practice my creative muscle without limitations of traditional news photography. Many more are to come.

Anniversary Collage

Over the weekend I created a special collage filled with images of meaningful moments during the first year of a couple's relationship. Each image is a culmination of memories expressed through recognizable places and themes during the beginning of this particular couple's relationship.

TIPA Sports Live Contest

Last week the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association held its 100th annual conference in Dallas. I participated in the sports live contest that took place at the new Dallas Cowboys stadium in Arlington. Instead of a "real" sports competition, we were given an small area to shoot an under construction arena. I won 2nd place for the photo above. I decided to turn in something that I knew nobody else would have shot and it worked out pretty well.
